It is a nice and convenient area. Not as nice as Waikiki Beach where I live now but good for the DC metro area. I used to live nearby.

I was born and raised and now a homeowner in Washington, DC. Interstate 395 really get hectic during rush hour, but easy to navigate. I love shopping in the Landmark area. It's diverse, but not a challenge.
I have a friend who well read and well traveled that recently moved from 5-BR $500,000 home in Arlington, VA back to the Landmark area.
Check out the website Zillow.com for statistics on the area.

Iris,
Unfortunately you'll spin your wheels trying to get a direct answer around here. I don't live in that area so my best advise is to check out the police department crime statistics for the area. Alexandria has a very easy to use, comprehensive search; their address is:

Another way to ask the question is "Would you let you child live in that area?" It is more direct and it hits closer to home, leaving no room for question of good or bad. Also, don't forget to check the assessment website on any property that your thinking about writing a contract on, it is a wealth of information.
Good luck!

Hi Iris,
The Landmark neighborhood of Alexandria is conveniently located off of a major roadway -- 395, which is the part of 95 that runs inside in the beltway == so for commuting purposes it puts you near DC, Tysons Corner, Alexandria. It is also near Olde Towne, ALexandria. Are you relocating to this area? I have been a resident of Northern VA for 25 years and once lived in that area. Let me know if you need more information.

I'm not sure what you mean by "good" area. If you want to email me with more specifics I'd be happy to reply. Remember, Realtors are bound by Fair Housing laws so we cannot tell you what a "good" neighborhood or a "bad" neighborhood is. But we can answer questions for you or provide information based upon your purchasing criteria as long as it's not in violation of fair housing laws.
