Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist recently report through RISMedia, "the (real estate sales) projections are enhanced by a tax credit expansion to more home buyers through the middle of 2010.  Given the success of the first-time buyer tax credit to date, and the need for qualified buyers to continue to absorb inventory that will include additional foreclosures over the coming year, we are hopeful about the impact of the expanded tax credit because it will stabilize home prices," he said. "In fact, the credit is working better than first projected – it now looks like we’ll have 2.3 to 2.4 million first-time buyers this year."

According to a recent RISMedia articale published October 26, 2009, the news outlet states "In the South, existing-home sales rose 9.0% to an annual level of 2.06 million in September and are 10.8% higher than September 2008. In a recent article of RISMEDIA, dated  September 24, 2009,  "The number of homes for sale declined nearly 3% in August 2009, compared to July, and is down more than 23% compared to a year ago, according to a monthly local market survey of home listings based on Multiple Listing Service (MLS) data in 25 metropolitan markets conducted by the national real estate brokerage ZipRealty".  Matt Houle, owner of Exit Realty of Hilton Head states, "the numbers reported by RISMEDIA are in keeping with the reduction of listings on Hilton Head Plantation.  In fact, based on the listing numbers found in June and July of this year, Hilton Head Plantation is currently down 25% from the early summer months.   Sales remain supportive and the decrease in inventory signals that the supply/demand curve may be showing signs of leveling out.  However, we still have a while to go in order to work off excess inventory, but this is encouraging data", says Houle. In a recent article by RISMedia stated, "The strong summer selling season in 2009 has led to a decreasing difference between the last listing price and final sale price, but most buyers are still getting some additional discount at selling time," said Zillow Chief Economist Dr. Stan Humphries. "We expected list-to-sale price ratios to fall as the sales volume picked up during the summer, and the California markets are showing strong declines in the discount off the last listing price, relative to levels at the start of the year. In a recent article published by  RISMEDIA, September 9, 2009, states, "Point2 Technologies, Inc. has released its Real Estate Confidence Index (RECI) survey report for the month of August 2009. The RECI extended its upward move for the third consecutive month, but remained marginally in positive territory, recording a 5.9 reading at the national level on the Index scale of one to ten (1 being 'Bad' and 10 being 'Good'). The August reading reflects a 5.4% improvement over July 2009 and a 21% increase over the June 2009 average".

 "For the fourth consecutive month in a row the pending real estate sales on Hilton Head continues to show strength", says Matt Houle agent/owner of Exit Realty of Hilton Head.  He continues, "from March 2009 through the end of June pending sales showed a strong increase and maintained that level of activity to date.  We are just half way through July and statistics report by the local multiple listing service confirm that July will also be a strong month, perhaps the strongest of the year so far".  According to a recent article published in RISMedia, "The Pending Home Sales Index, a forward-looking indicator based on contracts signed in May, increased 0.1 percent to 90.7 from an upwardly revised reading of 90.6 in April, and is 6.7 percent higher than May 2008 when it was 85.0. The last time there were four consecutive monthly gains was in October 2004".

"This trend is very encouraging to the overall market and it supplies a basis of confidence for buyers and sellers.  We are looking forward to the ongoing strengthening of the Hilton Head market and the national market", says Houle.
