Hilton Head Island SC Home Sales Continue To Stay Strong

The housing market on the Hilton Head Island SC continues to stay strong with an increase in purchasing activity according to Hilton Head Island MLS statistics.  For the month of May 2009, there were 41 closed transactions and 56 pending transactions.  For the month of June, the pace continues to stay steady with 32 closed transactions and 54 pending transaction.  The average days on market from May to June has dropped by 45 days and the listing to closed price ratio has increased.   "This is further evidence that the market in the greater Hilton Head area is continuing to strengthen and gain momentum", says Matt Houle, owner of Exit Realty of Hilton Head.  Houle continues, "a goodly percentage of the purchasing is being driven by first time home buyers, investors and second home or trade up home buyers who really sense that the worst is behind us and want to take advantage of the rock bottom prices.  In fact, in some selected purchases, we are seeing multiple bids above the asking price".
