    Great building bad management

Very uptight building, chairman of the Board and Manager Dan are jerks to employees and residents. They will make a big deal about the smallest things you do or ask for on the property. Gives the place a prison feel. otherwise it would be a fantastic building.

Great building and location, horrible board and management

This is a fantastic building. I give management props for maintaining the building in nearly pristine condition. It looks brand new and it was built in '05. The location can't be beat and construction is top notch. The only rub is the building management team. The employees are GREAT; however, the manager has not fully recognized he is there to serve the community - not the other way around. He has absolutely zero customer service skills and truly doesn't get it. The board, who i imagine supports the building manager, Dan, consists mostly of retired individuals with a militant approach towards running the building. Some of their tactics include random speed monitoring in the parking garage, they actually issue tickets (which they call fines), fines for dogs who fail to urinate in designated areas, etc. When i purchased my property in '08, the seller actually warned me about Dan, the property manager, at the closing table. I also own in Bozzuto managed communities in D.C., the difference is night and day. Dan and the board should go to a Bozutto management 101 class to get a clue. Despite the above, this really is a fantastic building in an outstaninding location. The quality of life cannot be beat - it's adjacent to the Reston Towne Centre, the W&OD trail, a beautiful wildlife preserve and lake (not the overflow lake on property), extensive hiking trails, etc.

I have lived here 1.5 years and thoroughly enjoyed it. Management has changed several times since these old reviews. I find the present management open to listening and acting upon resident requests. I find my fellow residents very easy to live with. I am glad I chose Carlton House.
