The design of Lavender Court has taken a more traditional approach by incorporating the Craftsman style into a townhouse product without sacrificing modern day luxuries. Originally, the Craftsman style of architecture was inspired by nature and used local building trades that were artisans of materials like wood, copper, iron, tile, and stone. Floor plans were open and the detailing simple. Lavender Court has elements of the Craftsman Bungalow Courts of the 1920s. The main entrance to each unit boasts a covered porch with square pillars that sit on the edge of a spacious courtyard. Special attention has been paid to each front door, constructed with specific elements such as lantern style lighting, leaded glass, and wood doors that evoke the Craftsman style. The buildings’ exteriors are treated with shingles, horizontal siding, and thick set wood detailing. Traditional earth tone greens and browns are used to blend the structures with the landscaping, helping screen the buildings from Highway 101. The interiors are reminiscent of the Craftsman movement and loaded with modern conveniences. Located on a private floor, the master bedroom is warmed by a fireplace and includes a comfort station with microwave, mini-fridge, and coffeemaker that are masked by a beautifully crafted wood cabinet. The master bathroom has its own spa tub and large walk- in closet. The concept is to create a home that blends Craftsman detailing without sacrificing today’s modern amenities.
