familiar with Nicaragua know that it truly is a paradise—with something
special for every taste and desire. From sundrenched beaches to verdant
rainforests; from active volcanoes to immense fresh water lakes; from
charming colonial towns to pristine secluded islands. Nicaragua truly
has it all. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Not only can you find a lifestyle that by most
objective measures surpasses the lifestyle in North America, you can

June 18, 2009 the assembly passed a new law especially for retirees.
Nicaraguan law 694 creates a retirement program that is second to none
in the region. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Those with retirements from a public or private
institution are eligible to retire in Nicaragua with only $600 in
monthly pension. Those with income from a stable source such as
dividends are eligible with just $750 per month. Furthermore, the
retiree’s spouse, children and parents are also eligible for just $150
per person. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Retirees are allowed to import all household goods
up to $20,000 completely free of import taxes. Vehicles for personal
use up to a value of $25,000 may be imported every four years
completely free of import or sales tax. In addition, if the vehicle is
stolen or destroyed in the four-year period the retiree can import a
replacement car completely free of tax. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Retirees are also
granted a one-time exemption for sales tax (IVA) on up to $50,000 worth
of construction materials, perfect for building one’s house in
paradise. Astonishingly, retirees are also granted a tax exemption up
to $200,000 for professional or scientific items, provided they are
used for the benefit of Nicaraguan society. The warmth of the
Nicaraguan people is legendary. Now you can help those in your adopted
home country and realize enormous tax savings as well. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Retirees
are also given tax exemptions for car rentals (with a Nicaraguan
driver’s license) used for tourism purposes. Better yet, this benefit

In early June, the long embattled “Coastal Zones Law” finally passed, establishing a clear set of rules and guarantees for land ownership and development along ocean, lake and lagoon shorelines. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The spirit of the Coastal Zone Law is to regulate the use of coastal property and promote sustainable development along the shores, while ensuring access to the public to further promote tourism. The law stipulates that all oceanfront land within 50 meters of the high-tide line is public domain and cannot be built on in any form. The law also stipulates a 200-meter Restricted Zone starting from the 50-meter setback, allowing the development of tourism services such as hotels, resorts, residential development and marinas. A Commission for the Coastal Zone Development (CDZC) has been created as a consulting entity, including government, tourism, environmental and private businesses which will develop a Master Development Plan and other development policies. This law is clear in respecting private property and the rights of landowners who have acquired their land legally, and established supremacy over all other legislation.
