Thank god we moved out of this place.

After moving we realized how much better Boston can be. We love the North End but this building is the pitts. The walls are so thin I'm surprised you don't see shadows coming through from the other side or if someone fell against it they'd blow right through in to your house. You might laugh but it REALLY is that bad.
Some of the people were friendly, others look at you like they want to spit at you when you say hello.
The review asks you to rate the amenities but there are none, and you are forced to give one star or it would be zero.

There are better options for the area.

The area is nice, but you are better to choose another building.
This building has some nice families, and some residents who have lived here for a long time.. There are also some who are simply inconsiderate and rude. We all live together and being nice costs nothing.
There are no amenities to this building whatsoever. Aside from small designated storage lockers in the basement, there is no cooling, there are no pets allowed, there is no parking, laundry facilities are not adequate for the number of units and you are not allowed to have your own in-unit laundry because the building's water usage is closely monitored. This has actually become a major issue for our household because people in this building will leave their laundry in machines for hours, making it impossible for others to use the machines and for what we paid/pay per month here, it is ridiculous. There is also no roof deck, no roof access at all.
The window casings are all old and rotted making sounds from outside feel like they are in your house. Noise from drunk bar patrons making their way off Hanover St at 2am make it so you cannot leave your windows open in the Spring/Summer to enjoy the outside air and with the open beam ceilings there are no installed fans to circulate air.
Insulation in the walls and between floors is horrible. If your neighbor coughs or sneezes you will hear it. If anyone has a loud television set, you will hear it. The beautiful open beam ceilings unfortunately mean that there is no insulation between floors and you will hear footsteps overhead constantly, as well as anything such as a chair being moved across the upstairs floor. People who do exercise above your head, sound as if they will burst right through in to your living room.
Common consensus is that the property management group seems paid to do nothing as they will not resolve known issues/disputes, and the board of trustees prove no better. To prove nobody is doing anything they ought to, the elevator has an expired inspection document posted at the moment.
We will wait until the market is better to sell, we may rent our unit and move to a nicer building. If we could do it over, I have seen plenty of nicer units on our street selling for less $$ per sqft that have actual amenities such as central heat & a/c, pet friendly, roof deck, and in-unit laundry. I'm sorry to say I would not buy here if I had it to do over, and I would warn others away. The units for sale in our building do not compare to others on the market, and for asking such a high price, they should.
The one nice thing I can say is that the cleaning crew does a good job of making sure the carpets in all the common areas are kept clean and that garbage removal from each floor is taken care of.
