This Place IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!

Ridgely Condominiums

205 E Joppa Rd, Baltimore, MD 21286

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would! Let me start by saying at first sight this place seems nicer than others in the area by far...trust me, its just a faade. From the way the building is managed to by whom it is managed to the maintenance staff and finally the condition of the building and its faults lead me to these views. Let me point out that we are both professional business owners that leased here, only to be thrown out once we started to "make waves" about the goings on in this establishment. The condo association or board if you will is a laughing stock, half are drunks the other half just appointed to "fill boots" with no real care about the residents or the building. The buildings resident manager a complete buffoon, most of her day is taken up by talking about the residents and their private business to anyone on the other end of a phone that will listen or to the front desk staff. She is incompetent and has no business running a building of that size. The maintenance staff excluding a very hard working gentleman named James is so lacking in their daily skills of maintaining and keeping this place working that its almost laughable. "father and son" with some friends thrown in to help with the difficulties that they cant tend to properly. The building is falling apart, the windows are so "out-dated" that they barely serve a purpose. Winter time is freezing with drafts, summertime all the window air conditioning go right on out! The clothes dryers in all of the units exhaust's into the unit rather that outdoors which leaves it very dusty and problematic to breathe! The elevators are so old that there always seems to be one out or being repaired by Otis on a daily basis. All this and more for a mere $500 a month condo fee on top of the mortgage or rent. If you have pets, forget this place altogether. You are not allowed to walk your family member through the lobby to the outdoors for exercise or to relieve itself, instead you are shuffled down the elevator to the basement garage to the rear exit door to a back parking lot which I wouldn't exactly call very safe? In closing if these are the things you are in fact looking for then this is your place, otherwise continue your search to a much more welcoming place that you would be proud to call home and where you would be treated like you should. I know I was just a trashy renter who they look down upon but we were in limbo after selling a house quicker than we anticipated so we thought this place would be nice for a while, WRONG! Save yourself some time, headaches and money and look for something newer and more inviting. No bad thoughts or words for some of the front desk staff who are simply stuck doing a job, albeit for complete jerks! ZERO STARS!!

    Understand the enviroment

I rarely write reviews unless I am upset. Shawn's review of the Ridgley is very upsetting. I could not disagree more with his reasons to dislike the Ridgley. I have lived in apartments in Texas, Massachusetts, and Maryland. My biggest apartment complaint are thin walls. I've never hear anything thru the walls at the Ridgley.

Yes, there is a condo board in which renters must be approved. They have a vested interest in who lives in the building. Majority of owners are elderly and the condo board reflects that. They do not want immature or unprofessional renters living in the building. They want renters who will respect their neighbors and the building regulation. I am currently a renter and have been one for the last two years. I haven't been "thrown out."
The maintenance staff has always responded within 24 hours when I have a problem with my apartment.

Yes, the building is old; it was built in 1975 and has HVAC instead of central air. If that is a problem then go rent an apartment across the street. If the windows are drafty, it's called weather stripping! DYI or call your landlord. As a renter, you aren't paying for water or electricity. So, turn up the heat or A/C if the temperature in the apartment is uncomfortable.

As for the clothes dryer, it depends on what kind of dryer is installed in the apartment. Again, talk to your landlord. My dryer has a lint trap and as long as the water level is high enough, it traps the lint and dust. Using non perfumed detergent and dryer sheets help as well.

There are 3 elevators for the building. During the day (between 9AM and 3PM), one elevator might be reserved for people moving furniture, large deliveries or contractors. As for walking your pet, it's an inconsiderate complaint. People have allergies; the building is just trying to accommodate both the pet owners and residents. Many of the older residents wait in the lobby for car service or relatives to pick them up. A dog or just shedded dog hair can trigger an asthma attack.

I like living at the Ridgley. The location is walkable to restaurants, the library, and shopping. There is a pool during the summer. The front desk people and the maintenance are friendly and they know my name and which apartment I live in. And I never hear my neighbors.

The Ridgely - TOWSON TOWN CENTER, Very Nice Place to Live.

The Ridgely Condominium is an older building erected in 1976. Yes the Ridgely is dated in styling on the condo unit hallways but it is suitable for the older demographic that once dominated. The joy of living in an older established condo community is unit sizes run larger than the living space size found in new condo construction. My one bedroom condo is a very spacious 1,131 square foot beauty. Another upside to buying a condo home at the Ridgely is you can buy an older unit and update it to your own quality tastes, needs and specifications. Yes the dryer vents to a water bath that is employed correctly catches most of the dust particles during dryer operation. Electrical panels, HVAC has been updated and is local to the units not central.

In 2017 the Ridgely is host to an increasingly younger crowd as millennials move in to enjoy the care free downtown Towson condo lifestyle. The Ridgely is at the epicenter of nightlife in a growing Towson. With condo townhomes across the street selling from the high $300's to $400,000 the neighborhood is sought after. The Ridgely is close to a large brand new entertainment venue that includes a 15 screen Movie Theatre and many friendly dinning options. Many local eateries deliver to the Ridgely for those times you don't feel like going out to eat. The Ridgely has a pool for a refreshing wading experience. The Ridgely has a nice neighborly Christmas Party and two Summer pool parties that have light food and drink items offered for a nominal charge.

Best news, the Ridgely is in the midst of a really awesome elevator modernization effort with one new elevator in place and functioning. The second of three Ridgely elevators is being replaced and should be in service by early to mid 2019 with the final elevator being replaced shortly thereafter. The Ridgely is an older building that gives you space to stretch out and the blank canvas to decorate in keeping with your tastes! Finally the Ridgely is a community of good people! I like the Ridgely and its people!

    Terrible Place, Liars

The worst place I've lived since Vietnam. Totally no respect from management, instead they make up stuff that are lie's about you. Unbelievable amount of noise everyday from jackhammers inside from 8am-3pm. I'm a disabled veteran with PTSD and this noise was so loud that it gave me stressors everyday where I could barely function and thought about ending everything. They could give a shit about my condition instead the moronic resident manager filed court papers to have me evicted for "threatening residents" which was a lie. I was robed twice by someone that had excess to keys from the front desk that were not secured! The front desk is manned by revolving idiots that have no accountability. THIS PLACE SCHOULD BE BULLDOZED!!!!!
