Doesn't Live Up to Hype, But Not Bad Either
We've been here for just over a year and will give a fair and balanced review. Most pressingly, I want to point out that Symphony House does not live up to the reputation of luxury it has clearly paid for and achieved through aggressive PR. The building is nice - particularly the 8th floor common area, which includes a very nice gym, pool/jacuzzi, sauna & steam rooms, tv room, library, board room, wine storage, and kitchen/dining area) - but the quality of workmanship and materials used in construction are extremely low quality. Like several of our neighbors, we have had to replace all doors, rework trims, re-set and seal hardwood floor panels, and other (what I would consider non-routine) maintenance after having lived in our unit for just a year. I'm looking up at the ceiling now where it seems beams are pressing through sheet rock, causing all sorts of deformities. The walls between units are fairly well insulated, but we can hear our neighbor come home every night and can hear the alarm clock every morning through the bedroom & bathroom walls. The bottom line is that the quality of the units is very, very low - not what I would have expected. I do want to stress, however, that the 8th floor common areas are very nice and are joy when we have time to take advantage of them. The location is great with easy access to Old City, Rittenhouse, South Street, etc. But as far as daily living, we've been less than satisfied with our home and will likely look to selling (sadly at a substantial loss, as unit prices have dropped significantly) and moving somewhere with less of a need to impress through manufactured PR and better able to attract homeowners through a grounded reputation. Our two cents.

Love living here! Units are expansive with open floor plans; chef's kitchen with state of the art appliances and finishes; amazing views of Philadelphia skyline; delightful swimming pool and lounge area; fitness center is fully equipped with cardio machines; yoga; the best part is the convenience to all things cultural; Kimmel Center; Academy of Music; theater; fantastic restaurants; upscale shopping and all within walking distance!
