Great building, amenities, and location
I've lived in the Chastleton for awhile now and love the building. The location is great - I love living in Dupont Circle, and also very close to Adams Morgan and U street for other nightlife. The building has a roof deck with awesome views (especially during the 4th of July fireworks), a gym, an interior courtyard, 24 hour security, storage in the basement, and gated parking. The units themselves are big compared to others I looked at. Some are fully renovated with granite, but I picked up my unit not renovated at a substantially lower price. The fees seemed high to me at first but after looking at it, they actually include some taxes and other mortgage items due to the building being a Co-Op. When I compared it against condos of similar price, the place was actually lower in cost due to tax benefits in the Co-Op being shares of a real estate business vice real property... so I can claim additional deductions that I couldn't with a condo. All in all the place is great, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to live.
