    When we were looking to purchase one of the units here we were told many lies. One was that there would be a gym or recreation room - after 2 years they finally put a gym in - THAT YOU HAVE TO PAY $75 TO GAIN ACCESS TO! This was not told to anyone prior, being led to the impression that it was one of the included benefits of living here. The other thing we were told is that there would be new washers and dryers installed - another lie! Not only are they the same cruddy machines (of which only 1 of 4 dryers even works with one dry - everyone who lives here knows which dryer I am talking about, its a running joke amongst the tenants how we all wait HOURS to use that ONE dryer... last one on the right) but they have increased the cost of washing your clothes about every 6 months. Starting at .75 to wash and .75 to dry, then 1.00 to wash and 1.00 to dry, and then 1.25 to wash and 1.25 to dry. If the machine eats your quarters you are out of luck! they stopped refunding your money when this happens. It's a total scam how they are ripping people off with the increase of cost to wash their clothes with the same worthless machines. The other thing they lied about was the "picnic areas"... which we were told they were going to install barbeque grills.... can you guess what? 2 years later, still no barbecue grills. When we moved in there was MOLD growing on the walls that was not there when they showed us the place. We had to threaten to call the ombudsman before they agreed to fix it, trying to say it was our responsibility now that we owned it, even though the damage took place before we moved in, and within 30 days of our purchase date. If they can get one over on you, they will. Management is horrible... they complain to the owners and tenants about everything - from which direction they park their car, to what kind of vehicle they are allowed to park (no work vans), etc. Depending on which building you live in, you will have to walk about a block just to take out the trash... I've had closer garbage bins when living on the 3rd floor of m last apartment! The pool area is always closed on the holidays - they make up a new excuse each time - the water levels needed to be fixed, poop in the pool, etc.... but these "unfortunate situation" are obviously too ironic... it has happened EVERY holiday weekend over the last 2 years. I am yet to meet a tenant who is happy here. One lady moved in recently and asked the carpets be replaced because they were TRASHED with HUGE stains everywhere... they said the carpets weren't bad enough to be replaced. Also before she moved in she was told the place was ready but when she went to move in the place was NOT ready. It hadn't even been cleaned yet! GROSS! They provided no blinds for the windows, but then complained to the tenant that the window coverings they were using weren't "uniform" enough for the building. STAY AWAY from this place. I have lived in 4 houses, 1 town home, and 4 apartments growing up... this condo is the WORST place I have ever lived and the MOST expensive place I have ever lived. when we moved in our bathroom door didn't even click into place to lock shut! Our front door was not installed properly and gets "stuck" and you have to bump into it with your shoulder to get it to open. I really regret moving here and I am not the only one. Despite the tenants many complaints nothing has been fixed and they continue to lie to people who are about to move in. Oh yeah, it's also VERY close to the train tracks which definitely took some getting used to when we moved in it woke everyone up a lot. and there are hookers/street walkers that hang out at the garbage cans and the convenient store across the street. Other tenants have had complaints of vandalism to their cars - popped tires, things being stolen. I saw a man by the garbage cans once scanning some peoples cars, and I have seen people waiting at the bus stop sitting on tenants cars while they wait. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM. BEWARE! don't believe me? before you move in, knock on some doors and ask the current tenants what they like and dislike about this place.

    Really bad

    It was a horrible place to live, I have been there for 3 years. At del sol in ft lauderdale, they treat you like crap.... The prostitutes are what scares me I have seen a few of them with weapons and there pimps follow them on the corner right near the apartments. The bad smell of urine near the parking area gets me every morning when I wake up. But the train running every few hours shakes the house and wakes us every time.

    This place is a ripe off and a scheme!

    We have been stuck here at El Sol since 2006. The buildings are not taken care of and the association management are owned by the property owners whom never gave control of the board to the owners because theyut their units into their rental companies! This is not a condo community at all! You pay a mortgage and rent to live here! This board does what they want. How they want, selective enforce, lie to the owners that live on the property, and charged a fee for use of the gym they finallu it in yet it is not exclusive use by the owner's, meaning that the renters can use it also. They do not get building permits from the city of Oakland Park when they do any construction on the buildings, it is run like apartments. The association management are rude and cruel to the single unit owners! Not to mention the trashy people they allow to move in. Do not even consider buying or renting here!7

    Please Read This

    Where do I begin? First, I think it is extremely important for you to understand please whatever you do, do not waste your time or your energy on this apartment complex. This has been by far the worst experience of my entire life when it comes to customer service and rentals. Just to also put it into perspective how horrible and disgusting this place is, my lease is up in 2 and a half months and I already moved out. I am paying two apartment rentals because El Sol is really that bad. The landlord woman who is in charge is the most disrespectful person I have ever met in my entire life. She never answers her phone or her texts. She sends you to voicemail 100% of the time. Esteban, the man who works under the landlord woman is just as disrespectful. He never answers his phone calls or his text messages. Now, let's get into the maintenance man, Ramon. First, he thinks he is the "police officer" for the apartment complex. I backed my car into my parking spot and I was told I could not do this. I responded back that no where in the apartment lease did it say I could not back into my parking spot. He proceeded to argue with me. I took a picture of the lease to prove it never said it. Then he had the audacity to bring me a completely different lease (as quickly as possible, mind you that was the fastest he ever walked to get something resolved) and tried to be a smart ass and highlighted the area where it said not to back in. Why didn't the landlord give us this updated information? And why does the maintenance man assume the role of the "police officer" for El Sol. Now let's get into how horrible of a "maintenance man" Ramon is. My air conditioner was broken it kept leaking for over a month. I would tell the landlord woman and Ramon. They both kept saying they were going to try this and try that because they didn't want to get me a new one. IT WAS POURING in my apartment right onto the cord where it could have started an electrical fire. My boyfriend and I had to put plastic around the outlet so it wouldn't catch on fire and had to empty a BUCKET of water multiple times a day. I would send pictures to Ramon and the landlord woman. No response of my texts and my calls were forwarded to voicemail. Literally could have killed us, but NO ONE CARED. Ramon finally attempted to fix it. Want to know how claimed he fixed it? This man took a literal ROCK and shoved it in the air conditioner to try and stop the water. As if shoving a rock into an air conditioner as "fixed" was bad lets talk about the shitty sealing of the air conditioner to where lizards would come into the apartment frequently, lets not forget to mention the door is open when it is considered "locked" to where lizards and frogs have gotten into our apartment. The outlets that are just for show and do not work. The closet shelf that decided to shatter (we are still waiting for that to get fixed, no response yet again).The kitchen cabinets with fake wood paper peeling off. The oven stops working frequently. The "brand new fridge" that was given to me was used after the first one broke. One thing after another happens on the daily in this apartment. People smoke weed and you can't even go to your mailbox without someone offering to sell drugs to you. Can't forget one of the best parts about this apartment complex is that there is only one parking spot. "Police officer" Ramon will stand outside staring at you if someone else is in your parking spot and will call you out on it. However, how does it matter who is in my parking spot when I am paying for it. You have to find another place to park your car because there is no parking at El Sol. Bugs are your unwelcomed guest. You cannot leave a piece of food out for 5 seconds before bugs are covered all over it. You can have the cleanest apartment like we did and bugs were on your food in the cabinets, bugs are covered on the bathroom sink, on the floor, and all over the walls. This apartment complex is beyond a nightmare. This was the biggest waste of time, money, and energy. I wasted 10 months of my life here and I will never forget how I was treated here and the quality of this apartment complex. El Sol is hell. Unless you want to get disrespected on the daily and have the world's shittiest apartment live here. If you want to be happy CHOOSE ANYWHERE BUT HERE. You will thank me later. And to the Landlord woman, Estaban, and Ramon the "police officer," I hope you are reading this and I hope you read the other reviews and understand how horrible of people you are and how you really need to get out of the apartment business. Quit disrespecting tenants. You treat us like shit. You should be ashamed and embarrassed of yourselves.
