Just like a vacation resort all the time
I came to Chicago many years ago for my employment. After commuting many long hours from the suburbs—and losing hours off my life from the stress of driving and sitting iin traffic, I moved to Plaza on Dewitt. This condo more than meets expectations. The condo association makes sure the upkeep is done correctly. The condo manager, Patty Santis expertly and quickly handles all owner issues. The amenities, location, and safety is some if the best in Chicago. The CTA from this location on the Gold Ciast is easy to navigate. If you are considering buying ir renting in Chicago- consider Plaza on Dewitt. This condo is mainly owner occupied.

The Plaza on Dewitt has many desirable properties, e.g., location, deck, pool, fitness room, travertine skin, and architectural affinities with the Hancock Center. It is unfortunate that the physical strengths of the Plaza are not matched by the quality of the residential experience. Current management is woefully inadequate at promoting a pleasant and peaceful residential experience. If you move into the plaza, you should be prepared to experience an adversarial relationship with management, as not a month passes without a resident being fined for some infraction of the extensive and overreaching behavior-prohibiting rules and regulations. Board decisions are final. Hearings are show trials. Appeals must be filed with civil authorities. Condo rules overemphasize what residents cannot do rather than what they can do, and the fewer expressly allowed behaviors are monetized by management. Be prepared to pay fees for the amenities and to be "snitched" on by the staff, for management promotes a "see something, say something" (9/11) policy for controlling the behavior of residents. If you take comfort in knowing that fear and punishment promote social order, the current management of the Plaza will not disappoint.
