    Safest and Closest Place to Live in DC-Vicinity

    I've lived at Watergate at Landmark for over three years and love this place. It is safe, clean, well-managed and best of all, QUIET. Concrete floors and walls give you all the privacy in the world. <br/><br/>I live in one of the large end-units and have a gorgeous view of the sunset every evening. When I sit on my porch, I don't hear street noise, fight the bugs, etc. <br/><br/>If it snows, don't drive, take their private shuttle. It is the ultimate in reliability. Door-to-door service in the rain or snow. <br/>I usually drive simply because I can be on either I-395 or I-495 within 3 minutes of leaving the parking lot. It's a straight shot into the Pentagon or downtown DC. Takes me about 10-15 minutes on average. <br/><br/>Most people love this location because of its proximity to shopping. Walmart, Costco, BJs, anything you could want is within minutes of this place (including great restaurants).<br/><br/>Okay, enough already. What is I don't like about this place? Hummmm....some of the neighbors are too private. I've lived here over three years and still don't know my immediate neighbors. They like to keep to themselves. Also, they recently upgraded the interior areas (and exterior brick facings) and I thought the mess would never end. Thank g-d that is over!<br/><br/><br/><br/>

    THIS PLACE IS A DISASTER

    This place may appear to have all the fantastic amenities one would love to have but it comes with a price...YOUR SANITY. WAL has nickle and dimed me from the moment I moved in and all of the roommates that have come and gone. The condo board has more rules and regulations that will make you wonder what society we live in (i.e. no bikes are allowed on the balcony as it "looks" unattractive or umbrellas too). The regulations are best seen with the catastrophic parking situation. Talk to anyone who lives in building 1 or building 2. Residents will have the fantastic experience of commuting to their cars each day with parking restrictions posted everywhere and the community security ready to either boot, ticket and/or tow your vehicle at 4AM without any notice or courtesy. When you pay to live in a gated community and have your car registered and wake up to see it missing your first thought is: STOLEN. Nope, it's simply towed and ticketed. Thank you Watergate at Landmark you have finally gotten me and my wife to move to greener pastures. And according to our Realtor there's plenty better options. Bottom line: This place can't do enough to control how you live and ticket you if you don't conform. The mass vacancies aren't any coincidence, people here are fed up and moving; so are we. Thank goodness we are only renters. We are outta here. Adios

    Watergate at Landmark -- revised guidance from New Board of Directors

    For 22 years, I have been an owner at Watergate at Landmark. Recently, our life changed for the better and this occurred with the landslide election results on March 4, 2013 when five fresh faces joined the nine members of the Board of Directors. The voices of the residents were heard and community participation was crucial as the democratic process worked for this complex.<br/><br/>While some reviews on the internet referencing construction projects are accurate, those construction projects are at an end and the new Board will review �lessons learned� before contemplating any further expenditures. Garage parking will soon be restored and although there will be select displacement of vehicles while overhead ceiling repair occurs in the Ground Level parking garages, the situation will not be as dire as some have referenced in their critiques of this complex.<br/> <br/>Since this community spoke and voted for a sweeping change in placing five new Directors on the Board, a significant difference has already occurred among the attitude of the staff members, senior management and the residents. While numerous reviews indicate negative remarks about the Patrol Services staff�s aggressive parking policy, this is a guarded and gated community with approximately 5000 people, 1460 units and 2000 parking spaces � and the enforcement of rules in a complex of this size is necessary. Many violators were out of control in their expression of frustration and we can all feel their concerns equally, yet there are appropriate ways to express concern.<br/> <br/>The Upper and Lower Terrace projects are anticipated to be complete by the pool opening at the beginning of summer, a few short months away. The grounds will be restored to their beautiful, lush green state with colorful perennials and annuals giving the landscape the serene view we have always enjoyed out our unit windows. A much safer and aesthetically pleasing area at the outdoor pool will complement the three adjacent gazebos and waterfall which cascades down the rocks towards the pool.<br/> <br/>We live in a home with 37 acres of prime real estate in the City of Alexandria. The location inside the beltway with access to the Van Dorn Metro Station makes it desirable for residents commuting to the DC downtown area to work. The shuttle service is a plus for those without vehicles and the schedule is convenient for business people, as well as the shopping schedule during the daytime hours for access to numerous retails businesses and grocery complexes.<br/> <br/>This community has social events through various activity groups. Happy Hour occurs once a month and all adult residents are invited. Younger kids will enjoy the upcoming Easter Egg Roll, and older ones will play on the basketball court located near the Racquet Ball Club. Card games abound at different hours of the day and night. Specialized Yoga and Water Aerobics classes are available for those with interest.<br/> <br/>Watergate at Landmark was a vibrant community when I purchased , and the last five years have been devastating to the quality of life and also the value of property, whether that value came through the ownership or rental of a home. Noise, dust, debris and construction equipment were abundant at the expense of the residents who enjoy this as their home, as too many projects were taken on in too short a time frame, and the failure to include the single component of �resident� in the complex equation of repairs was ignored. The new Board President is committed to finalizing the infrastructure projects and reviewing other projects of concerns such as the Keyless Entry System and the Replacement Balcony Doors/Windows before considering how to proceed. I am confident the Board President and Vice President, supported by new members, will find a viable solution for the needs of all residents through overall fair decisions while taking into consideration the composition of the diverse population and its needs as a whole.<br/> <br/>We have come a long way and I invite you to come to the community to see for yourself. You will be pleasantly surprised at the revitalized community known as Watergate at Landmark.<br/><br/>

    Avoid This Plage Like the Plague

    Been here for 20 years and its a disaster. My condo fess have more than doubled in that time and I now pay over one thousand fifty dollars a month. Been nothing be reconstruction and remodeling after more than 20 years previously of neglect to keep the condo fees low so now current residents are paying dearly for those years of neglect of the property. The first day I moved in they tore up my balcony and I dint hae theuse of it for more than two years and that was just the beginning of constant and relenless construction and reconstruction that has never stopped. Now theyu are replacing all of the windows and sliding glass doors in two buildings of 18 floors and will do the other two after the first two are completed. WARNING. STAY AWAY FROM THIS terrible place that is porly managed.<br/>
