DO NOT BUY IN WINSTON TOWERS #4 (7033 N. KEDZIE) GO TO ONE OF THE OTHER BUILDINGS

I moved in 5 months ago. I now regret my decision. 1. The people who work in the office are incompetent, as well as very unpleasant and aggressive to deal with. They will openly state that they do not work for the residents, they work for the board. 2. Do NOT move here if you order things online frequently. The package room is only open during business hours M-F (CANNOT GET PACKAGES BETWEEN 5PM FRIDAY AND 9 AM MONDAY!!!) and the manager closes the office (which contains the package rm) IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY with no warning and w/o posting when she will decide to re-open it. I can hardly believe I'm writing this, but she actually told me twice that she was closing the office down in the middle of the day bc she was so busy collecting information for corporate for the LAWSUITs !!! Oh, and did I forget this? They don't buzz delivery people in. The delivery people are supposed to wait until a worker is "free" and can come to personally open the rear door. Since delivery people are generally trying to work quickly, they have no other choice but to JUST DROP THE PACKAGES WHEREVER. The office people feel that this is a personal attack on them by the horrible delivery people. I was treated to a ten minute attack on Amazon and that the delivery people won't stand at the back door for ten minutes waiting for it to be opened. I said, why don't you at least put a big metal box or something out there? The office mgr launched into another attack on Amazon and neither she, nor the board member, wanted to try and solve this issue at all. They would rather just complain about it. 3. NO PARKING SPACE W THE CONDO. Okay, so you have to get on a list, politely ask for week after week if a space is open, only to be shouted at that they are too busy and they don't work for the residents, and the board told them they could say that. When the one person yelled at me in front of other residents, one resident tried to defend me by saying she felt this was an unacceptable attitude. The guy told her he didn't care what she thought and went back to his desk. (Later, this nice woman asked me if I would join in w her and numerous other residents who hate the way the building's being run now and try to change things). Yes, there's parking on Kedzie in front, but don't forget! if you have a pet, you're going to have to walk that pet for hundreds of yards to the rear service entrance since you are banned from entering the lobby with a pet (or w a LAMP! - yes, in yet another bizarre rule, I was told during the 60 minute "reading of the rule book" that residents may not walk in the front entrance WITH A LAMP. I said, any size lamp? A lamp in a box? A big lamp? A small lamp? I got a loooongg blank look, and then No lamps, or we will fine you! 4. Every other word is WE WILL FINE YOU or WE WILL TOW YOU. It's very bizarre, but your car, not you, rents your parking space, so if you happen to get a loaner, or a friend wants to park in your spot w your permission while they visit you, the office manager takes great pride in saying that they are constantly scanning the cameras that are installed everywhere and they will tow any car in your space that is NOT the one registered for that space. I only wish that my car would get out there and make some money so it could pay for the monthly rental itself. 5. The "interview". Here's what I heard for 5 weeks until I finally got my lawyer involved: You have to be interviewed and accepted. (Okay, I get that). BUT, the interview consists of the office mgr reading OUT LOUD, EVERY SINGLE WORD OF THE 30 PG RULE BOOK. Wait, it gets more bizarre. The mgr told me that there are 9 board members, BUT, only 3 will do these interviews. And 2 of them are ALWAYS OUT OF TOWN. Yes, she actually said this to me. The saga continues, the ONE board member able to attend this mandatory mtg which MUST take place during working hours weekdays, has to take a day off of work, which she doesn't want to, and needs a lot of notice for. Weeks go by, I finally had to pay my lawyer to make this mtg happen. Which was excruciatingly boring by the way, and only enlivened by the 100 or so times I heard the words "OR WE WILL FINE YOU!!!". (True story, the board member actually took a call during this "interview" and allowed someone else to park in his space. I was so sick of the mtg by then that I said, wait, isn't that against the rules? . Oh, I was told, We're making a special exception...Wish I was a board member!) 5. They say they're "dog friendly"? OH NO!!. Can't walk in the front entrance w your dog, you must go all the way to the far rear service entrance.(about a 3 minute walk, since the one time I cut through the extensive lawns, I was immediately reported and threatened w a fine). They salt heavily but never pick up broken glass or garbage so it's dangerous for your pet. You cannot walk your dog ON ANY OF THE GORGEOUS GREEN SPACE AROUND THE BUILDING. Evidently, they do not trust residents to pick up their dog'
