Be Careful of The Security
Been living here for almost a year now. Have a nice 1 bedroom and enjoy work out facilities. What not growing on me is the security staff. They have guys working there who appear professional and then reek of marijuana later on during the day. River City is a good looking and somewhat impressive place to live but don't think the condo association know who they have in the building in regards to the security. Wouldn't live here with kids.

Awful place to live (renter)
I've been living here for almost two years and honestly up until this last year I've never had a problem. It started in July when the building flooded due to a storm and all of the condo occupants were forced to move out for about 3-4 weeks, annoyance. The management office was non-helpful or maybe a more accurate way to put it - non-existent... which I've found to be a trend with the months to follow. After I moved back in the building smelled unorthodox - not even the circulating strong curry smell from the 80% of Indians that live here could mask it. We were never compensated for having to live somewhere else during this time and fend for ourselves for a month. Luckily, I have family in the area but a lot of people had to shell out hundreds of dollars on hotels. Moving on... I'm pretty sure this entire building is infested with bed bugs or other rodents/insects. I've personally had bed bugs in my apartment and random insects, mind you I'm a cleaning machine... my apartment is always spotless. NIGHTMARE... this was honestly the worst experience I ever had to go through. The management office took 3 WEEKS to get an exterminator out here while in the meantime I could barely even sleep. The girls that work in the management office have the worst attitudes and make it seem like it's an inconvenience anytime they have to handle an issue... it's your job ladies. Ever since I've seen the bed bugs I have not been able to enjoy living in this place - I feel like they still aren't gone and am constantly paranoid they are crawling on me. I feel like I'm throwing my money away renting a place I can't even enjoy. Above all that I was the one that had to pay the extermination bill even though I'm pretty positive they came from neighboring units. I read online that other people in my building reported having them a couple months prior, the whole building is probably infested by now! They rent some units out in this place like it's a hotel. So with the amount of random people coming in and out of these units, I'm sure this had something to do with the infestations. But that's just my theory. Moving on... the building itself is falling apart. Every time it rains the "river road" level literally has taped x's that they put on the floor so they know where to put buckets to catch drips from the ceiling. I'm pretty sure less than 50% of this building is actually occupied. The units are selling for so low because this building is crap and the management is crap. I can't even explain how bad I feel for the people that actually own units here. Assessment is high and I heard they just added an extra assessment fee. They just started renovating the Marina Level and Lower Level with some new tiles, paint jobs, ceiling tiles, new desks, etc. They are also renovating the outdoor area on River Road (which I always thought looked fine) and the roof deck (fine as well). Here's an idea: instead of wasting money renovating things that do not need renovation... why don't you work on getting rid of your pest problem and renovating the actual units so that you get these places occupied. I personally love the architecture of this building and believe that if the necessary updates and renovations on units were completed that this place would be a prime place to live. Such a shame for the great location it's in. Great location meaning its about 3 blocks away from the lake, a block away from the Sears Tower, grocery stores within walking distance, couple blocks from the loop's shops and restaurants, couple blocks away from Chicago Theaters, and public transportation within 5 minute walking distance that will take you virtually anywhere you want to downtown. All in all, really wish I never renewed my lease in August - can't wait to move out in a few months.

BEDBUGS!!!!!!!!
This poorly run building is infested with bedbugs! The ceiling leaks, management is awful, and the building smells of curry!!!! Living here was a nightmare! I feel horrible for the owners. The assessments are outrageous. This building is more like a college dorm and very loud on the weekends. The "security" is a joke! This building is awful. I can only imagine what pests the children at the daycare in the building take home
